Tell us about how you met

We knew each other as teenagers, but didn’t have much to do with each other until moving down to Wellington for university. One of Sam’s friends was my flatmate, so we saw a lot more of each other, and the rest was history.

Tell us how the proposal went?

I’m generally oblivious so it wasn’t hard to surprise me but, just to make sure, Sam chose a random Thursday evening. We had dinner on the beach down Ahu Ahu road, complete with champers from the lovely team at Dalgleish Diamonds.

Why do you think you’re such a great match?

I think we balance each other quite well because Sam is logical, and I’m creative. We can lean on each other and know the other has our back.

How did you find the planning process?

From the beginning, we agreed that our priority was that everyone had as much fun as possible. Having that as our North Star made it easier to make decisions along the way. We only had 4 months to plan, but Jenny and the Dobsons team were absolute champs at pulling it all together for us. Booking a marquee was a no-brainer because we didn’t want the stress of weather forecasts, but they also helped us with all the other essentials like furniture and lights. Having it all through one company was a big plus.

What was your best memory on the day?

Hands down, the dance floor. Since we stayed at the same venue for the whole time and had a bus back to town, the atmosphere kept building well into the evening. The team at 487 were incredible at keeping our buzz alive, and most people kept dancing right up until the bus left.

How did you find working with Dobsons?

We love Dobsons because nothing is too much to ask. Jenny was great at raising anything we hadn’t thought of and made it easy to organise everything in advance. On the week, we barely had to think about it because we knew the team were all over it.
